Mi'kmaw Speaking Apprenticeship Coordinator

The Mi’kmaw Economic Benefits Office (MEBO) in partnership with the Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency (NSAA) is building its team in order to better support community members on their apprenticeship journey. MEBO is currently looking for a Mi’kmaq Speaking Apprenticeship Coordinator. This individual will work closely with community stakeholders and the NSAA to advance Unama’ki apprentices to their Red Seal Certification and beyond.  The Apprenticeship Coordinator will report directly to the MEBO’s Programs Manager.

Free, online NSCC-Cisco NetAcademy courses: work at your own pace in your own space! Courses available are Get Connected, Intro to Cyber Security, Packet Tracer,  Entrepreneurship, Linux Unhatched (learn what Linux is and how it can work for you), and Intro to the Internet of Things (IoT). NO PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE REQURED FOR ANY OF THESE! Want to know more? 

Course Descriptions
Get Connected (30hrs–  The digital world is upon us both personally and professionally. Having a better understanding of the internet, computers and social media can be a big help forward acquiring digital skills. With Get Connected you will learn how to use a computer, connect devices and access search, email, and social media. Enjoy course content that is very user-friendly and interactive with lots of illustrations. 
Entrepeneurship (15hrs) – It takes more than a single great idea to become a successful entrepreneur. The winding road between idea and execution requires business acumen, financial skills, and most importantly the right mind. So, why not benefit from a coure that’s made for you, jump-starting your ideas, and arming you with the right skills to take the next step with more self-confidence.
Intro to Cyber Security (15hrs) – Today’s interconnected world makes everyone susceptible to cyber-attacks. Whether you’re interested to the relatively new world of cybersecurity as a professional, or just interested in protecting yourself online and in social media, this introductory course is the answer. It explores cyber trends, threats-along with the broader topic of cybersecurity in a way that will matter to YOU.
NDG Linux Unhatched (8hrs) – Ever considered a career in Linus? Or, stuck in a dead-end job exploring options for a career change? NDG Linus Unhatched allows learners to wade into the shallow end of Linus, the back-end operating system used by global titans such as Facebook, Google, Microsoft, NASA, Tesla, Amazon and more. Learners walk away with a clear understanding of whether Linus is for them or not, without having to commit to more than 8 hours of self-paced training. 
Intro to IoT (20hrs) – Those who invest in learning IoT skills can help transform any business in any industry, from manufacturing to saving endangered species. The combination of increased global internet access and a growing number of devices designed to connect is creating endless opportunities. Learn how the Internet of Things is changing the wold and the skills needed to land a well-paying job.
Packet Tracer (10hrs) – Enroll, download and start learning valuable tips and best practices for using Cisco’s innovative simulation tool, Packet Tracer. This self-paced course is designed for beginners with prior networking knowledge. it teaches basic operations of the tool with multiple hands-on activities helping you to visualize a network using everyday examples.
