Membertou, NS, Sept.22, 2017… The Mi’kmaw Economic Benefits Office (MEBO) is working with The Nova Scotia Department of Transportation
and Infrastructure Renewal (TIR) to improve diversity in their workforce. The goal is to increase the number of Indigenous workers with TIR.

TIR hosted a community information sessions on Sept.22 at the MEBO office in Membertou. This was to highlight employment opportunities with the department. TIR has spare winter operator (snowplow) positions available across Cape Breton Island.

They are looking to recruit local Aboriginals for Winter Operator positions. Requirements are Grade 10 and 2 year class III Truck Driving. People got to meet Department of Transportation staff and fill out an application on the spot. MEBO Staff were there to assist.
